Dental crowns are versatile and beneficial dental treatments that can serve multiple purposes. They are particularly useful for restoring teeth that have been damaged due to decay or injury, following root canal therapy, or as a means of restoring dental implants. Dental crowns can restore the appearance and function of a tooth that suffers from any or all of these issues.
At our office in Chicago Dental crowns can also provide protection for weak teeth, preventing them from breaking or sustaining further damage. Additionally, for teeth that have been cracked, dental crowns can help to hold them together and promote healing. Over time, teeth can become weakened and discolored due to various factors. Still, dental crowns offer a reliable and effective solution to restore the affected tooth's function and aesthetics.
CEREC same-day crowns are a convenient, durable, and aesthetic alternative to traditional porcelain crowns that require two appointments over several weeks. With same-day dental crowns, the entire process, from designing to milling and placing the crown, can be completed in a single visit of about two hours. Same-day crowns are made from porcelain, protect the tooth from further damage, fit perfectly, are low-maintenance, and cost about the same as traditional crowns.
They also eliminate the need for temporary crowns and messy dental putty by using a digital scan of the teeth to create an accurate 3D image for designing and manufacturing the crown. The final result is a perfectly fitted, natural-looking crown that blends in with the rest of the teeth and lasts around 15 years with proper care. Same-day dental crowns are designed and made right in the dentist's office, eliminating the need for temporary crowns and the inconvenience of multiple appointments and numbing shots.
They protect the tooth from further damage, fit perfectly, are low-maintenance, and are made from porcelain, which is both durable and aesthetically pleasing. Same-day crowns cost similarly to traditional crowns and provide a comfortable, natural-looking, and long-lasting solution for preserving damaged teeth and maintaining oral health. Not all patients will be ideal candidates for same-day crowns; our team is also experienced in placing traditional dental crowns. Our doctors will help you decide what’s best for you after a comprehensive examination to determine your individual needs.

With CEREC's 3D modeling software, we take images of your tooth without the need for uncomfortable physical impressions. Our dentists, Dr. Dan or Dr. Isabella, design the restoration for a precise fit and aesthetically pleasing appearance by viewing the 3D model on a high-definition screen. Additionally, our dental crowns are color-matched to blend in seamlessly with your natural teeth. For more information, check out the video provided.
You no longer need to wait up to two weeks to get traditional dental crowns. Our office provides same-day crown fabrication. However, this option may not be available to all patients. Our team is also skilled in placing traditional crowns, and our doctors will examine you thoroughly to decide which treatment is best for you. We pride ourselves in providing our patients with the best possible care. We are committed to making your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
You can expect to be numb for a few hours following your procedure. Due to this numbness, drinking and eating may be difficult in the affected area. Avoid drinking anything very hot or chewing as you might hurt yourself without realizing it. You may experience minor tooth sensitivity for up to 6 weeks after the treatment – this is a natural response from having work done, though not everyone experiences it.
The gums surrounding the teeth may be sensitive for up to a week after the procedure as a result of tissue manipulation during the filling. If sensitivity is more than mild or persists beyond these timeframes, contact your dentist for an appointment to make sure everything is healing appropriately. Once the numbness wears off, pay attention to your bite to make sure everything feels normal. You want to feel your teeth hitting on both sides simultaneously when you bite down. If this is not the case, or if you’re experiencing continued discomfort with chewing, go back to your dentist, and they can make a quick adjustment – no anesthetic needed! You should treat your new crown like all of your other teeth. Remember, a cavity can develop around a dental crown just like an unrestored tooth, so it needs to be kept clean!
Coverage for CEREC same day crowns varies depending on your dental insurance plan. While many insurance plans provide coverage for dental crowns, it's important to check with your insurance provider to understand the specifics of your coverage. Strobel Dentistry in Chicago can assist you in determining your insurance coverage and discussing any financial considerations related to CEREC same-day crowns.
While CEREC technology is highly versatile, it may only be suitable for some types of dental restorations. For example, CEREC same day crowns are primarily used for single-tooth restorations, such as dental crowns, inlays, and onlays. However, more complex cases involving multiple teeth or extensive dental work may still require traditional lab-fabricated restorations. Your dentist will evaluate your specific needs and determine the most appropriate treatment option for you.
