Almost Invisible

What is SureSmile Clear Aligner?

Clear Aligners in Chicago, IL Chicago

SureSmile Clear Aligner is a collection of clear, detachable, and almost invisible aligners that gradually move your teeth into their desired position.

Like traditional orthodontia and Invisalign, SureSmile Clear Aligner is expertly crafted to treat a variety of issues, including:

  • Overly crowded teeth
  • Widely spaced teeth
  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crossbites

We especially like this treatment for patients that need special attention paid to their tissue and bone levels, as it allows for a greater amount of control in the fabrication of the clear aligners. Clear aligners are a modern, discreet solution for straightening teeth and achieving a beautiful smile. Unlike traditional braces, clear aligners are custom-fitted to your teeth, making them nearly invisible and comfortable to wear. These aligners are made from smooth, transparent plastic and are designed to gradually shift your teeth into the desired position. Clear aligners are a convenient and effective option for correcting various dental issues, such as gaps between teeth, overcrowding, and misalignment.

A Smile You’re Sure About

What are the benefits of Clear Aligners with SureSmile?

At our practice in Chicago Clear Aligners with SureSmile offer several outstanding advantages for orthodontic treatment. Firstly, the advanced software of SureSmile ensures precise and efficient tooth movements, resulting in predictable and high-quality results.

Unlike DIY clear aligner systems, Clear Aligners with SureSmile avoids worsening dental alignment over time. Treatment plans are designed to provide a straighter smile in the shortest duration possible, with estimates ranging from six months for mild cases to one to two years for more severe misalignments.

One of the key benefits of SureSmile Clear Aligners is the ability to remove the aligners, allowing you to eat without any dietary restrictions. However, it's important to note that while wearing SureSmile aligners, only plain water should be consumed to avoid staining or damaging them. Maintaining oral hygiene is easy as there are no brackets or wires to navigate around during brushing and flossing. The aligners are comfortable and made with state-of-the-art materials, making them suitable even for those with metal sensitivities or allergies.

Discrete Appearance: Nearly invisible when worn, allowing for a confident smile throughout treatment.
Comfortable Fit: Smooth plastic aligners reduce the risk of irritation and discomfort.
Removable: Easily removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.
Effective Results: Efficiently addresses misalignment, overcrowding, and gaps between teeth.
Improved Oral Hygiene: Easier to maintain oral hygiene compared to traditional braces.

How Clear Aligners Work

Clear aligners work by using a series of custom-fitted, removable trays that apply gentle pressure to your teeth, moving them incrementally over time. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks before progressing to the next set. The total treatment duration varies depending on the complexity of the case but typically ranges from 6 to 18 months. Regular check-ups with your dentist ensure that the treatment is progressing as planned and adjustments are made if necessary.

Candidates for Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are suitable for a wide range of patients. Ideal candidates include individuals who:

  • Have mild to moderate misalignment issues
  • Wish to close gaps between teeth
  • Prefer a nearly invisible alternative to traditional braces
  • Can commit to wearing aligners for the recommended 20 to 22 hours per day
  • Maintain good oral hygiene and regular dental visits
  • Have no active infections or compromised teeth.

Is this Normal?

Through the process of wearing clear aligners Chicago patients may have questions that arise. We at Strobel Dentistry are always here to answer your questions, but some commonly asked ones are:

  • Are my teeth supposed to hurt? While extreme pain shouldn’t occur, soreness is to be expected for the first day or two of each new aligner. OTC medications such as Tylenol and ibuprofen should help! If possible, stick with Tylenol, as Ibuprofen may block some of the inflammation we want that helps teeth move.
  • Can I drink liquids while wearing my clear aligners? Short answer, yes, but stick to the clear ones! Be careful of what you’re drinking (take them out if you’re having carbonated drinks, smoothies, juices, or a cocktail) some of the acids or sugars in these drinks may compromise the health of the teeth if you're not careful. As a best practice, once you've finished the drink, rinse your mouth with water after to prevent staining, neutralize acids, and wash away the sugars.
  • What happens if I lose an aligner? You wouldn’t be the first! Call us right away if you lose an aligner to help you determine if you should move forward or backward in your trays or in some cases, if we should get you a replacement.
  • How long can I wear my clear aligners? Compliance is the key to success in clear aligner therapy. We recommend wearing them for at least 22 hours a day and taking them out only to eat, brush, and floss.

To ensure optimal hygiene while using SureSmile aligners, there are some essential tips to follow. Always remove and rinse your clear aligners thoroughly before cleaning them with a toothbrush and toothpaste. Avoid using mouthwash, soap, or other cleaners that may damage the aligner material.

Store the clear aligners in their case when not in use to protect them and maintain their shape. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and antibacterial soap to clean your aligners gently, paying attention to hard-to-reach areas and rinsing them afterward to remove any debris or residue.
