Full Mouth Reconstruction in Chicago IL

It happens - for whatever reason, sometimes our oral health in Chicago IL slips farther than we’d like and we find ourselves in a place where significant work is needed. It may feel overwhelming, but try not to worry - our team at Strobel Dentistry can help! There are options for you even if it feels like too much - treatment can be comprehensive and still broken down into digestible phases to keep you and your wallet happy.

What is full mouth reconstruction?

Full mouth reconstruction is needed when the majority of your teeth have decay, wear, or a hopeless prognosis. We look at the mouth as a whole and work with you to develop a comprehensive treatment plan based on your individual need and budget.

What procedures does full mouth reconstruction in Chicago IL involve?

Every case is different, but you can expect your full-mouth case to include a combination of:

  • Fillings - where decay has not progressed too far, teeth can be restored using a composite filling material
  • Crowns - in the event that close to or more than half of the tooth structure is gone, a crown (done same day!) is needed to repair the tooth
  • Bridges - this restoration uses natural teeth on either side of missing teeth to support a prosthetic
  • Implants - if a tooth needs to be removed, an implant can be a stable, permanent tooth replacement
  • Dentures or Implant Supported Dentures - for multiple missing teeth, a denture will restore your bite. In some cases, if you don’t want a removable appliance, an implant-supported denture can be a great option for a lifelong restoration.
  • Extractions might also be needed

How much does full mouth reconstruction cost?

So much depends on the extent of damage and the nature of your case, but it’s safe to say that full mouth restorations can range from $30,000 - $50,000. While this may seem unattainable, bear in mind that often this cost is spread over a couple of years of treatment. We also offer interest free, in-house payment plans to help ease the burden month over month.

How can I expect to feel after treatment?

With any restorative dental work, you can expect some tenderness and soreness at the site. Sensitivity with restorations can last up to 6 weeks, though it’s often much shorter. If you need extractions, you’ll need to follow your post-operative instructions carefully to avoid pain and infection. For any treatment, be sure to listen carefully to your provider’s recommendations to avoid unnecessary discomfort. With full mouth reconstruction, we're trying to bring back teeth and tooth structure that has been lost over time, which necessarily will change your bite. Bite adjustments may take some time to get used to, but with careful planning, these can be easily incorporated into your plan of care.
