Crowns

Strobel Dentistry

Same-day crowns and no more uncomfortable impression using our advanced dental technology!

Do I Need A Crown?

Dental crowns are typically used in the following circumstances:

  • A tooth has sustained significant damage due to decay or injury
  • Following the completion of root canal therapy
  • For restoration of dental implants
  • As protection to prevent a weak tooth from breaking
  • To hold a cracked tooth together

Over time, your teeth begin to weaken. This leaves them more susceptible to problems such as decay, discoloration, or cracks. Dental crowns can restore the appearance and function of a tooth that suffers from any or all of these issues.

Same-Day Crowns

You no longer have to wait for the dentistry you need! Traditional dental crowns can take up to two weeks to fabricate. Our office can create crowns within one visit. Not all patients will be ideal candidates for same-day crowns; our team is also experienced in placing traditional crowns. Our doctors will help you decide what’s best for you after a comprehensive examination to determine your individual needs.

CEREC Same-Day Dental Restorations

Thanks to our advanced CEREC technology, our team can fabricate most crowns in as little as 2 hours. The CEREC system allows us to create high quality, metal-free restorations in a single visit. We take images of the tooth using CEREC’s 3D modeling software – no more uncomfortable physical impressions! This 3D model is viewed on a high definition screen as Dr. Dan or Dr. Isabella designs the restoration for a precise fit and aesthetically pleasing look. Our crowns are color-matched to blend in your natural teeth. Check out this video to learn more!

What to Expect After Your New Restoration

You can expect to be numb for a few hours following your procedure. Due to this numbness, drinking and eating may be difficult in the affected area. Avoid drinking anything very hot or chewing as you might hurt yourself without realizing it.

You may experience minor tooth sensitivity for up to 6 weeks after the treatment – this is a natural response from having work done, though not everyone experiences it. The gums surrounding the teeth may be sensitive for up to a week after the procedure as a result of tissue manipulation during the filling. If sensitivity is more than mild or persists beyond these timeframes, contact your dentist for an appointment to make sure everything is healing appropriately.
Once the numbness wears off, pay attention to your bite to make sure everything feels normal. You want to feel your teeth hitting on both sides simultaneously when you bite down. If this is not the case, or if you’re experiencing continued discomfort with chewing, go back to your dentist and they can do a quick adjustment – no anesthetic needed!

You should treat your new crown like all of your other teeth. Remember, a cavity can develop around a crown just like an unrestored tooth, so it needs to be kept clean!
